Armita Hooman was born and raised in Tehran, Iran. She holds a B.A. in Social Policy from the University of Tehran and earned a Master of Public Administration, an M.A. in International Relations, and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Data Analysis for Public Policy from Syracuse University in New York.

Before relocating to the United States, Armita worked as a researcher with non-profit organizations in Tehran, focusing on social development and policy processes. She joined NUFDI as a Summer Fellow in June 2024 and now serves as a Program Associate. In this role, she contributes to the IranWatch newsletter and conducts research on the Islamic Republic’s illicit activities on the international stage.
