Hamid Nouri Released in Prisoner Swap
This week, the Prime Minister of Sweden confirmed that the Islamic Republic would be releasing two Swedish hostages in exchange for the release of Hamid Nouri, a former regime prison official, who was sentenced to life in prison by a Swedish court for crimes against humanity, including for his role in the 1988 massacre of political prisoners in Iran.
Sweden's sentence against Nouri sent a strong message to the Iranian people that their oppressors and murderers would be met with justice for the crimes they've committed against them. Now, Nouri is walking the streets of Tehran freely.
Canada Designates IRGC as Terrorist Organization
On Wednesday, Canada's federal government officially listed the Islamic Republic's Revolutionary Guards Corps as a terrorist organization under Canada's Criminal Code.
CBC News reported that once a group is placed on Canada's terror list, police can charge anyone who financially or materially supports the group and banks can freeze its assets.
