Pezeshkian Inaugurated
On Tuesday, Pezeshkian was inaugurated as the Islamic Republic's new president.
During the ceremony inaugurating the "reformist" president, the crowd once again burst into "death to America" chants.
Shervin Hajipour Summoned to Prison
On the same day that a "reformist" was being inaugurated, Shervin Hajipour announced that he had been summoned to prison in Iran to serve a 4-year sentence for his Grammy-winning song "Baraye" on charges of "propaganda against the Islamic Republic" and "instigating the public to protest."
"Baraye" became the anthem of the Woman, Life, Freedom movement, and won a Grammy in 2023 for Best Song for Social Change.
Shervin will be serving his sentence during Pezeshkian's presidency, during which he was supposed to "reform" the Islamic Republic, for a song that gave millions of Iranians hope and strength to continue their fight for freedom, for Iran.
Four Women in Iran at Risk of Execution
Four women in Iran have been sentenced to death on baseless charges of "armed rebellion" against the Islamic Republic.
Their sentences stem from involvement in either Woman, Life, Freedom protests, or involvement in legal organizations.
