Two Minutes in Tehran — Episode 35
Two Minutes in Tehran is a weekly series dedicated to briefing you on the latest news on Iran
Heightened Hijab Crackdowns at Universities
A Telegram group called "Tehran North Islamic Azad University Freedom Seekers" has been reporting that crackdowns on hijab violations and "improper dress" in schools have increased immensely since the beginning of the school year.
Students have reported heightened officer presence on campus, including officers stationed at doors to monitor students.
An altercation was reported in which an officer physically assaulted a female student for not following hijab rules.
This all comes despite promises from so-called "reformist" president Pezeshkian that restrictions would be less harsh.
Manoto TV Returning to Air
After shutting down satellite broadcasting at the beginning of the year, Manoto announced this week that it will be returning to air very soon.
Manoto TV is a Persian-language media outlet based in London, that serves as a vessel for people inside Iran, allowing them to report as citizen journalists to document what's really going on inside the country, while Islamic Republic state media continues to push lies and propaganda, and journalists are unable to officially report on the truth without being punished.
Ongoing Strikes and Protests Amid Distractions
Yet another week has gone by with strikes and protests by workers at various companies and gas complexes over poor conditions and low wages.
The regime continues to ignore the very clear demands of workers, as it sets its sights on sowing chaos in the region, over tending to the needs of the Iranian people.
