[IranAlert] Convicted War Criminal Threatens Exiled Iranian Dissidents
This is the NUFDI IranAlert—concise, timely analysis offering unique insights into breaking news and major developments inside Iran. Each short brief provides a fresh angle, highlighting trends, reactions, and overlooked internal dynamics shaping Iran and the Islamic Republic.
In a new video , convicted war criminal Hamid Nouri walks among mass graves of political prisoners in Tehran, boasts about his role in the killings, and tells exiled dissidents, “You all belong here too.”
Nouri is a senior Islamic Republic official convicted for war crimes in Sweden over his role in mass execution of political prisoners in Iran in the 1980s. He was released from jail and expatriated to Iran in exchange for hostages in June 2024.
Walking among unmarked mass graves of political prisoners, he says, “These were criminals and terrorists like you who have been buried here. You should have ended up here[in the mass graves]too but you escaped out of Iran. Allah willing, you will be taken to court here in Islamic Iran and face Islamic justice.”
His release was a travesty of justice and another example of the Islamic Republic coercing other nations through hostage diplomacy , an openly stated policy of the regime.
Hamid Nouri arrived at Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport on 15 June 2024.
