The Aerospace Forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC-AF) on March 25 unveiled a new underground missile base. Iranian state media says the base is equipped with “ thousands ” of Khaybar Shekan, Qadr H, Sejjil, Emad, Haj Qassem and Paveh missiles.

Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Mohmmad Bagheri and IRGC-AF chief Amir Ali Hajizadeh toured the base.

Bagheri delivered a speech at the base and vowed that the regime’s armed forces are developing the operational capacity for attacks against “enemies”, presumably the U.S. and Israel, that would be “ten times worse than Operation True Promise 2”.

True Promise 2 is the Iranian codename for an IRGC strike against Israel in October 2024, when Iran launched about 200 ballistic missiles at targets in Israel.

In a propaganda video released by Iranian state media, the two commanders are shown walking over an Israeli flag painted on the floor of the base.

Photos of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and senior Hezbollah official Hashem Safieddine are seen on display in the base. Safieddine was killed in an Israeli strike in October 2024.

IRGC-AF chief Hajizadeh had earlier boasted, “If starting today we unveil an underground missile base every week we won’t be able to unveil all of them in two years.”

FDD’s Iran program senior director, Behnam Ben Taleblu reacting to the move, told NUFDI, “Post October 2024, Israel clearly possesses the capability to strike any above ground target in Iran. The IRGC is therefore doubling down on underground facilities, both to decrease the effectiveness of an attack and increase the cost by preserving the tools by which Iran would respond.”
