Washington, DC —The National Union for Democracy in Iran (NUFDI) had the pleasure of hosting two highly successful events in mid-June.
On the evening of Friday, June 18th — the date of the Islamic Republic’s thirteenth illegitimate election — NUFDI colleagues and supporters gathered to inaugurate and officially open our new office in downtown Washington, DC. After rallying in front of the Islamic Republic’s Interest Section to protest the sham election and stand in solidarity with the brave Iranians who boycotted the regime’s sham election, we gathered at the NUFDI office. At the inauguration, we highlighted NUFDI’s progress in the past year and the growth we have been able to achieve thanks to our team’s tireless efforts. We welcomed members of the think tank community, the press, Congressional staffers, friends and supporters for a presentation on our upcoming projects and our staff expansion which includes five new fellows.
On Saturday, June 19th, we had the privilege of hosting HIH Prince Reza Pahlavi at an intimate gathering in downtown Washington, D.C. The Prince spoke eloquently on the longstanding resilience and determination of the Iranian people in the face of immense repression. He also discussed the urgent need for unity amongst Iran’s political forces. Most relevant for NUFDI’s team and supporters, the Prince highlighted the important work to be done by Iranian-Americans in sharing the voices of those Iranians inside the country who need support and solidarity.
We thank all those who attended and have generously given their time and support to this noble cause.
